(a)
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the board may inquire into any alleged violation of this chapter or any other state or federal law, regulation, or rule relevant to the practice of accountancy.
(b)
The board, or its executive officer pursuant to a delegation of authority from the board, is authorized to perform the following functions:
(1)
To receive and investigate complaints and to conduct investigations or hearings, with or without the filing of any complaint, and to obtain information and evidence relating to any matter involving the conduct of licensees, as directed by the board, or as directed by the executive officer pursuant to a delegation of authority from the board.
(2)
To receive and investigate complaints and to conduct investigations or hearings, with or without the filing of any complaint, and to obtain information and evidence relating to any matter involving any violation or alleged violation of this chapter by licensees, as directed by the board, or as directed by the executive officer pursuant to a delegation of authority from the board.
